The Kansas City Chiefs have a problem on their hands involving one of the key defensive players. On Friday, defensive end Frank Clark was charged with felony possession of an assault weapon. If found guilty, Clark could face up to three years in prison.

The news of potential jail time for Clark stems from his arrest during a routine traffic stop on June 20. He was stopped in Los Angeles, California by law enforcement for a routine traffic stop when they saw an open duffle bag with an Uzi in it. Officers immediately arrested him for illegal possession of a firearm, and he was sent to prison.

Clark claimed that the weapon belonged to a member of his security team, according to TMZ. The grand jury didn’t buy that excuse, obviously, laying down the aforementioned charges. The star pass rusher is due in court next week for a hearing.

Clark has been a vital piece to the Chiefs’ defense, racking up 14 sacks since 2019 after being traded to the team. Kansas City rewarded him with a five-year, $104 million contract when they acquired him. The Chiefs have yet to release a statement on the new development in their star pass rusher’s case.
