Ashleigh Barty beat Karolína Plíšková in the Wimbledon 2021 women’s final to earn her second career Grand Slam and impress Tom Cruise who was in attendance at the same time.

Ashleigh Barty is the winner of the Wimbledon 2021 women’s final after beating Karolína Plíšková in three sets to take home the win. This is her second Grand Slam after winning the 2019 French Open.

This marks the fourth straight year the women’s Wimbledon singles winner was a first-time winner at the All England Club.

On top of that, she is the first No. 1 seed to win Wimbledon since Serena Williams did so in 2016. Further, she’s the first Australian woman since Evonne Goolagong Cawley defeated Margaret Court in 1980 to win Wimbledon.

“This is incredible,” Barty said in her on-court interview after the match. “I genuinely have to thank every single person in this stadium, you have made my dream so special, so thank you so much.”

Kate Middleton and Prince William were also spotted at Wimbledon having the best time and looking as regal as ever.

Barty becomes the 49th different woman to capture the Wimbledon singles title but only the fifth to pull off the rare double feat of winning the women’s singles title and the girls title, which she won 10 years ago.

The other four women to pull of the double-dip are Ann Jones, Karen Susman, Martina Hingis and Amelie Mauresmo.

This year’s Wimbledon saw notable stars Naomi Osaka and Simona Halep not participating while the withdrawal of Williams in her first-round match due to an ankle injury took away some serious star power and name recognition from casual fans.
