Stop us if you have heard this Patrick Mahomes stat.

He’s been nothing short of sensational since he took over as the team’s main starter on the opening Sunday of the 2018 NFL season. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes has played and started 45 regular-season contests. He’s connected in 66.1 percent of his passes for 13,868 yards.

The 10th overall pick in the 2017 NFL draft has thrown 114 touchdown passes compared to a mere 23 interceptions in those contests. The Kansas City Chiefs moved up in the draft that year to secure his services and he’s lived up to that decision.

More? There have been eight postseason contests and Mahomes has thrown for more than four times as many scores (17) as interceptions. Yes, he and the team had a rough outing in Tampa in Super Bowl LV but his impact on the franchise has been phenomenal.

There are plenty of numbers to show just how impressive the former Texas Tech standout has been in such a short time. He’s surrounded with his share of quality pass-catchers tight end Travis Kelce and wide receiver Tyreek Hill are stars. But when it comes to the latter performer, noted NFL statistical analyst Warren Sharp may have outdone himself.

So what to make of this? Are head coach Andy Reid and offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy (see Ed Easton Jr. of Chiefs Wire) aware of this? How about Mahomes and Hill themselves? We are certainly in an era of analytics when it comes to all sports these days but it’s somewhat difficult to get a grasp of what this truly means.

Every teams most underrated player. dark. Next

Yes, this is a somewhat entertaining number. And no doubt fans, media and perhaps current players may look at Sharp’s statistic more than once. Regardless of any circumstances, the combination of Mahomes and Hill has been lethal to opposing defenses.
