What’s the longest home run hit at Coors Field?
By John Buhler
So many home runs have been hit at Coors Field over the years, but what one went the longest?
With the 2021 Home Run Derby taking place at Coors Field on Monday night, what is the longest home run ever hit in the Mile High City anyway?
Coors Fields has been home to the Colorado Rockies since the 1995 MLB season. The 1995 season gave us the Blake Street Bombers, which culminated in the Rockies’ first-ever trip to the postseason as an NL expansion team. With the thin air on their side, hitting big flies is part of playing ball in Denver. Does a Rocky or a visitor have the longest homer ever hit at Coors Field?
Here are the 10 longest home runs in this history of Coors Field entering the 2021 MLB season.
What time does the Home Run Derby start?
The 2021 Home Run Derby begins at 7:00 p.m. ET, 5:00 p.m. MT on Monday, July 12. While All-Stars like Joey Gallo, Shohei Ohtani and Salvador Perez will try to crush balls deep into the Denver night, the longest home run ever hit at Coors Field belongs to former Miami Marlins slugger Giancarlo Stanton. He crushed one 504 feet off Chad Bettis back on Aug. 6, 2016 for the Fish.
The second longest home run in Coors Field history came off the bat of former Washington Nationals outfield Michael Taylor. He destroyed left-hander Yohan Flande’s offering a full 493 feet back on Aug. 20, 2015. Tied for third place all time is Rockies star shortstop Trevor Story with his 487-foot moonshot off San Francisco Giants left-hander Andrew Suarez back on Sept. 5, 2018.
Maybe one of the eight 2021 Home Run Derby contests breaks the Coors Field’ all-time record?
