Here is the latest example of Alabama football star Evan Neal being a physical freak in the gym.

The Alabama football program may have a top-five pick in the 2022 NFL Draft in offensive tackle Evan Neal, who is an absolute physical specimen at 6-foot-7 and 360 pounds.

The former five-star recruit from Florida is entering his junior season at Alabama. Even if he has to replace Outland Trophy winner Alex Leatherwood at left tackle, Neal’s upside and sheer athleticism are reasons why he is expected to go top-five next season. Just watch him take a typical box jump and do something extraordinary with it. You have to watch this video to believe it.

This is the guy who will be assigned to keeping quarterback Bryce Young clean in the pocket.

Alabama football: Evan Neal shows off his raw athleticism in the gym

To do a box jump is one thing, but splitting one’s legs while doing it to land on two separate platforms at 6-foot-7 and 360 pounds is just mind-boggling. Of course, this is not something he will be asked to do when he suits up for Nick Saban’s Crimson Tide on fall Saturdays. What will get him drafted top five is helping Young get to the Heisman Trophy ceremony as a first-year starter.

While there have been plenty of outstanding offensive tackles before him at Alabama, Neal has the chance to be the first offensive lineman drafted next spring, should he declare after three years in school. He will not be the first pick in 2022, but we should not rule out the possibility of him being the first non-quarterback taken next spring. His draft stock is incredibly high right now.

If Neal plays up to expectations, Alabama may have what it takes to repeat as national champs.
