Scouting Report. LF. Arizona Diamondbacks. 8. Pick Analysis. David Peralta. 2. player

David Peralta is a former Gold Glove and Silver Slugger recipient for the Snakes

Along with Haniger, one outfielder who has been tied to the Braves in trade rumors is David Peralta of the Arizona Diamondbacks. Given that he plays for the worst team in baseball at the All-Star Break, Peralta could be expendable. As with Haniger, Peralta will not be hitting free agency until 203. The difference is his contract is set for 2022 with no chance of arbitration.

While he has lost all power at the plate with only four home runs on the year, Peralta is still slashing a decent .253/.319/.393 on the season. He may have earned a Silver Slugger with the Snakes in 2018, but trading for Peralta is all about improving the Atlanta defense with Acuña out for the season. He may have to play right, but he does provide some needed defensive versatility.

Overall, Peralta would be akin to adding another Inciarte to the Atlanta outfield, which nobody in Braves Country is overly clamoring for. As with Haniger, trading for him could help outfield depth for a year and change. The Braves won’t have to give up Pache or Waters to get him, but Michael Harris and a pitcher would go Arizona’s way. They don’t want to lose another trade to the Braves.

Trading for Peralta is like getting a younger version of Nick Markakis back into the Atlanta outfield.
