Chargers just trolled Patrick Mahomes on Twitter and they’ll regret it

The Los Angeles Chargers trolled Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes over Justin Herbert comments.
NFL fans learned that rivalries do not take a break for the offseason. That was evident at the American Century Celebrity Golf Championship, where Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes seemingly brushed off the potential of Los Angeles Chargers signal caller Justin Herbert while on the green.
The Chargers‘ official Twitter account was not going to let that supposed shot slide, as they sent out a video of a Herbert highlight reel from his games against the Chiefs this past season.

While the comments by Mahomes did seem like a slight towards the NFL’s Offensive Rookie of the Year, that was actually not the case. The Chiefs star quarterback said that he did not mean to take a shot at Herbert, as he was just responding to some heckling fans at the golf tournament.
“Yeah, I think it got taken out of context,” Mahomes told Jori Epstein of USA Today. “I was talking some trash to all those Raiders and Broncos and Chargers fans out there. I have a ton of respect for him as a player.
“For him to come out in Year 1 and play at that level is a special thing. Not a lot of guys can do it. And I know I’ll have a lot of tough games against him in the future. So it was kind of a joking matter that I think blew up on Twitter like most things to do.”
So there you have it. The comment by Mahomes was not meant to brush aside Herbert’s potential in the NFL. He was just responding to some trolls on the course. He looks forward to the future matchups between the two, as are the majority of NFL fans.
Herbert shined in his first season in the league, being the third quarterback selected in the 2020 NFL Draft behind Joe Burrow and Tua Tagovailoa. Through 15 regular-season games, Herbert threw for 4,336 yards, 31 touchdowns and 10 interceptions while completing 66.6 percent of his passes, while rushing for 234 yards and five scores on 55 carries.
The Chargers rookie made his NFL debut against the Chiefs as a last-minute replacement for Tyrod Taylor. Herbert completed 22-of-33 pass attempts for 311 yards, one touchdown and one interception while rushing for 18 yards and a touchdown on four carries, but the Chargers lost to the Chiefs in overtime by the score of 23-20. In the second and final meeting against the Chiefs, Herbert completed 22-of-31 of his passes for 302 yards and three touchdowns while rushing in for a touchdown in the 38-21 victory.
Chiefs and Chargers games are going to be must-watch games from here on out, as two of the best young quarterbacks in the league get to duel it out twice a year.
