NBA rumors: Lakers interested in top defender from Milwaukee Bucks

According to Bleacher Report, the Los Angeles Lakers could have interest in making a run after P.J. Tucker this summer. 

It goes without saying, but watching how exciting the NBA Finals has been is nothing short of heartbreaking for Los Angeles Lakers fans. After winning it all last year, folks thought LA would be able to repeat.

That’s not the case, though, and now the front office is eyeing some potential additions in free agency to help the team get back to its top level. One guy to keep an eye on for Lakers supporters is P.J. Tucker. According to Bleacher Reports’ Jake Fischer, LA indeed could have interest in trying to sign him.

If the Lakers were to sign Tucker or acquire him via a sign-and-trade deal, he’d be making his way to The City of Angels for his defensive abilities. Tucker isn’t known for being a serious offensive threat. Thus far in the NBA Finals, he averaging a little over five points per contest.

Defensively, however, is where Tucker really makes an impact on the floor. He’d be looked at to really tighten things up on D for Los Angeles. LeBron James, Anthony Davis and others would be looked at to worry about the scoring, while Tucker’s aggressive defense would make a massive impact on the other end of the hardwood.

A former second-round pick of the Raptors, Tucker has been in the league since 2006. He’s suited up for Toronto, Phoenix, Houston and now Milwaukee. If the Bucks don’t bring him back to town, several teams will hope to lure him to their city. You can expect the Lakers to pick up the phone once they’re allowed to do so.
