DraftKings British Open picks: $9,000 range

Bryson DeChambeau ($9,900) – In three appearances at The Open Championship, DeChambeau only has one made cut. With that history and the recent caddie change — and the fact that he’s not played all that well — he’s a stay-away for me this week.

Jordan Spieth ($9,700) – Man, I’m in on Spieth this week. His form has remained and he continues to play like one of the better golfers in the world. This tournament is going to demand players to grind and create and he’s arguably better than anyone in that capacity.

Justin Thomas ($9,600) – Thomas played well last week at the Scottish Open and, when he’s on, he can win no matter what. Plus, getting him at this price on DraftKings almost feels like stealing. But I will say, I have a gut feeling that he’s going to be a bit of a letdown this week at The Open.

Louis Oosthuizen ($9,300) – This is a tremendous price for Oosthuizen who has been one of the best non-winners in the world this year, including finishing T2 or outright second in the last two majors. A previous winner at the British Open, he should be in some of your lineups.

Collin Morikawa ($9,200) – On any course outside of Royal St. George’s I would be in on Morikawa playing links golf. With his iron play and the fact that length won’t be a huge advantage, he should be good. However, there is some concern from me about how he’ll fare when some inevitable bad bounces happen and he’s not in the best spots.

Viktor Hovland ($9,100) – Contrary to Morikawa, I love Hovland as a debutant at the British Open. He’s coming off of a win in Germany and his game is in tremendous form. His biggest weakness has been his pitching but that shouldn’t come into play at this course, which makes him a wonderful play at this price.

Tyrell Hatton ($9,000) – Hatton is another player I’m in on this week, though I would take Hovland if you can spare the extra $100 on your DraftKings lineup. His game around the green and experience in Europe should make him a strong play nonetheless.
