The Chicago White Sox are looking to add leading up to the MLB Trade Deadline. Unfortunately, one of their prospects is untouchable in pitcher Michael Kopech.
Kopech is a fiery hurler who can dial up 100 mph with ease. When healthy, he can be used as a top-end starter or elite pitcher out of the bullpen. The White Sox have every reason to ensure he stays on the south side for a long time, despite the potential of a World Series title in 2021.
Chicago could also be suitors for Joey Gallo of the Texas Rangers. Gallo, a power-hitting left fielder, is almost a sure thing to be traded by the deadline in late July. In fact, it’s so obvious that fans are making fake trade proposals.
Joey Gallo White Sox mock trade. Special thanks to @yankeesgiantsa1 for the graphic. As promised, twitter followers would get early access to posts. pic.twitter.com/4kOOvoTDz9

White Sox fans love seeing Gallo in those colors. Unfortunately, it could cost them Kopech. No thanks, indeed.
Chicago White Sox: Fans wouldn’t trade Michael Kopech for Joey Gallo
Fans on the South Side wouldn’t trade Kopech for pretty much anything. There’s prospect hoarding, and then there’s this. To be fair, though, Gallo isn’t worth a team’s top prospect, per say.
Might be in the minority on this but I wouldn’t even trade Michael Kopech for Joey Gallo straight up.

I’m about 99.99999999% sure if a possible trade partner even started to ask about Kopech, the White Sox would immediately hang up https://t.co/gADIi3MRH6

Things I’ve learned today:
— ✡️ (@DabollToHeaven) July 16, 2021
1. Nobody understands trade value
2. Joey Gallo is the most underrated player in baseball
3. White Sox fans for some reason think Michael Kopech is the second coming of jesus
I wouldn’t trade Kopech for Gallo straight up. This is one of the worst trades I’ve ever seen.

I really dont think you understand how good or valuable Michael Kopech is. pic.twitter.com/v7xDqAf0XE

Extend Michael Kopech for life

Lol I know of two radio personalities in Chicago that would agree with this. But everyone else is laughing.

This is not happening, again Kopech and Vaughn are off the table so maybe that’s why it won’t happen probably pic.twitter.com/Cdk7QvSumz

Kopech is 25 years old, is pitching to the tune of a 1.53 ERA and .93 WHIP, and there’s more where that came from. The White Sox are right to hold onto him not just for his future but for his present. He’s a valuable bullpen piece for the 2021 postseason and beyond.
Gallo, meanwhile, likely wouldn’t stay in Chicago beyond the ’21 postseason. That makes this mock trade a pretty obvious no.
