By Staff
With the second half of the MLB season underway, we turn our attention to the most important date on the baseball calendar … the 2021 MLB Trade Deadline.
We’ve officially entered the stretch drive of the MLB season.
With most teams having 70 games or fewer remaining in the campaign, we turn our attention towards the trade deadline. While some teams are still in limbo, trying to figure out whether they’re contenders or sellers, most have realized their reality.
When is the 2021 MLB Trade Deadline?
In short, the 2021 MLB Trade Deadline is on July 30 at 4 p.m. ET.
So which teams are going to be buying? In the American League, the Boston Red Sox, Tampa Bay Rays, Chicago White Sox, Houston Astros and Oakland Athletics hold the top five records and should all be buying. Meanwhile, the Cleveland Indians, Toronto Blue Jays, Seattle Mariners and New York Yankees are all close enough to make moves as well.
In the National League, it’s the San Francisco Giants, Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres are in an arm’s race. In the Central, the Milwaukee Brewers have run away with the division, while the New York Mets are comfortably pacing the East. All five should be trying to add a few pieces.
As for the sellers, the Minnesota Twins and Chicago Cubs are both teams who should be moving big names, potentially including third baseman Kris Bryant, designated hitter Nelson Cruz, starting pitcher Jose Berrios and more.
With less than two weeks until the deadline, the MLB landscape is going to radically change in short order.
