Jrue Holiday hooks up with Giannis for dagger alley-oop to win Game 5
By Mark Powell
Jrue Holiday proved once again he’s arguably the best defensive guard in the league, and hooked up with Giannis on what proved to be a game-winning alley-oop.
An NBA Finals dagger is rarely so honorably delivered. While Suns fans forced Giannis to miss three straight free throws down the stretch, there was no bizarre Space Jam rim sequence to force the Bucks great to screw up a dynamic flush with just seconds remaining.
The Suns were down just one point, hoping to mount what would’ve been a memorable Game 5 comeback. Devin Booker drove to his left, only to have the ball stolen from him by Holiday. The 2020 offseason acquisition led the fast-break and found Giannis for the flush.
Milwaukee Bucks defeat Phoenix Suns in Game 5
Giannis runs the floor like a damn racehorse, and Jrue made sure to take advantage of that fact. The Bucks are one win away from their first NBA Finals in half a century. It’s the biggest game of Antetokounmpo’s career, and he can finish things off at home in Milwaukee.
Antetokounmpo played 40 minutes on the night, just a few weeks after many thought his season might be over. Never question his heart, period.
