This really is tremendous from the two superstar players. Understandably, countless people were terrified on Saturday night and rightfully so. According to local police, two cars outside of the park were involved in the shooting.

Ashan Benedict, the executive assistant chief of police for DC’s Metropolitan Police Department, told CNN this was an isolated incident and that fans in the stands weren’t in any kind of trouble. The shooting took place in the sixth inning.

“I just want to assure the public that at no time during this incident were individuals inside the stadium attending the game in any kind of danger,” Benedict said via CNN. “This was not an active shooter incident and it’s not being investigated as such. Everything took place outside the stadium.”

Fortunately in this case, people inside the stadium were safe, with Tatis Jr. and Machado making sure they helped out the best they could. This just goes to show that while they’re superstar players, they are human at the end of the day. These two really should be applauded for their efforts.
