Chris Paul rumors are going to dominate the offseason, and he’s already being asked about his future after the Suns lost the NBA Finals.

For what seems like the millionth time (it’s actually only the fourth, but still) Chris Paul is on the wrong end of a series where his team led 2-0.

After the Suns lost Game 6 to the Bucks, Paul becomes the fourth player to be on a team that lost a best-of-seven series when his team was up 2-0. The loss brings this season to a close, which means Paul also becomes a free agent.

Paul was asked in the immediate aftermath of the Game 6 loss what his future holds. The veteran understandably was not in the mood to be answering those types of questions so soon after such a devastating defeat.

“I don’t know, we just lost a few minutes ago. Right now, we’re gonna process this and figure this out. I think everything else will take care of itself,” Paul said after the game, via FanSided’s Gerald Bourguet.

Asking Paul about his future immediately after losing the first-ever NBA Finals he appeared in was probably not the right time or place. It’s going to be a very relevant question all offseason long, however, as Paul was already going to be a highly-coveted veteran leader before we saw what he did in boosting the Suns to being a title contender in a single season.

NBA Rumors: Where will Chris Paul sign in 2021-22?

Other teams on the cusp of taking the next step will be looking at Paul to do for them what he did for Devin Booker and company in Phoenix. The New York Knicks have long been rumored to a landing spot for Paul, and teams like the 76ers, Bulls, and Lakers could all make a move.

Imagine Paul returning to Los Angeles but with the Lakers and his buddy LeBron. The Lakers need a point guard, Paul needs to be in the best position to win a title, and the pieces are there for a LA reunion that both wins Paul a ring and sticks it to the Clippers at the same time.

Let’s not count out perhaps the best landing spot for Paul — right where he is in Phoenix. Running it back to try and avenge this NBA Finals loss is a perfect ending to the story, as there might not be a better place with more pieces in place for Paul to win than with the Suns.
