The Opening Ceremonies for the 2021 Olympics in Tokyo are Friday night but competition has already begun in softball and soccer. The time difference (Tokyo is 13 hours ahead of the Eastern Time Zone) will make for a screwy schedule for Americans looking to watch live but here’s what’s on tap for the second day of the 2021 Olympics.

USA vs. Canada — 8:00 p.m. (July 21)
Mexico vs. Japan — 11:00 p.m. (July 21)
Italy vs. Australia– 2:00 a.m.

Men’s Soccer (all times ET)

Egypt vs. Spain — 3:30 a.m.
New Zealand vs. Korea — 4:00 a.m.
Mexico vs. France — 4:00 a.m.
Ivory Coast vs. Saudi Arabia — 4:30 a.m.
Argentina vs. Australia — 6:30 a.m.
Honduras vs. Romania — 7:00 a.m.
Japan vs. South Africa — 7:00 a.m.
Brazil vs. Germany — 7:30 a.m.

The U.S. softball team got off to a strong start in their first game, beating Italy 2-0. But Canada also picked up a win in their first game, over Mexico, 4-0, so the U.S. will be looking to stay ahead of the field.

The men’s soccer tournament also beings today with several huge matchups. Brazil and Germany are both strong medal contenders and the timing of their game might actually make it feasible for some folks in the East Coast to watch live without messing up their day too much. Mexico vs. France is another fun matchup between two strong teams.
