NHL rumors: Did Jack Eichel get traded yet?
Everyone knows Buffalo Sabres center Jack Eichel is unhappy. But did he get his way and get traded during the 2021 NHL Draft?
There will be some big moves during the 2021 NHL Draft, including the Buffalo Sabres selecting No. 1 overall.
The draftees won’t be the only players getting serious attention. Buffalo center Jack Eichel could be front and center on draft night.
The former No. 2 pick isn’t thrilled with being on a team consistently at the bottom of the standards. Trade rumors have swirled since the end of the season as a result.
Did Jack Eichel get traded during the NHL Draft?
The biggest barrier towards Eichel being traded out of Buffalo is the price. The Sabres are asking for a giant haul.
Still, there remains a flurry of rumors about trades.
It’s been hard to keep track of which teams are still considering a move since the list seems to be constantly changing, but the New York Rangers are an intriguing option who always get mentioned.
Even if New York is the favorite, there’s still a lot going on in their pursuit of the 24-year-old.
Complicating everything is Eichel’s injury status. The center missed the end of the NHL regular season because of surgery on a spinal disc herniation. Will that scare away potential suitors? It certainly hasn’t driven down Buffalo’s asking price. A healthy Eichel may be worth any price. An injured one would be a hard sell.
Eichel has scored 139 goals in 375 NHL games to this point. He’s also added 216 assists during his career.
