Willy Adames singing a love song to his bat is making us all swoon (Video)

Milwaukee Brewers shortstop Willy Adames implored his bat to wake up while whispering sweet nothings to the maple wood before an at-bat.

Willy Adames has an interesting way of trying to turn a bat night at the plate around: Just talk to the bat.

The Brewers shortstop literally took a moment to speak to his bat, kissing the wood and imploring the bat to wake up.

It was weird, but it was also weirdly sweet.

Adames and the Brewers were playing the White Sox on Sunday night when the mic’d up Adames showed love to his bat.

It might not have been the endearing moment people would have expected. It was still great.

Willy Adames gave some motivational words to his bat

The reason Adames had to give his bat a talking to is he went 0-for-3 with a strikeout in the first and a ground out in the fourth. However, he made it on base in the sixth thanks to a throwing error.

The shortstop landed in Milwaukee via a trade earlier this season. The move from Tampa Bay has worked beautifully for both the team and the player. He’s batting .293/.386/.540, a major improvement on his production in the first 41 games of the season with the Rays when he was .197/.254/.371. He has hit 11 home runs and driven in 39 runs since arriving.

The Brewers are sitting comfortably at the top of the NL Central with a 58-41 record. They hold a seven-game advantage over the Reds in second place.

Since the All-Star break, Milwaukee is 5-2. They swept the Reds and need a win over Chicago on Sunday to complete another sweep in their favor. Though they trailed early thanks to three runs for the White Sox in the second inning.
