Australia vs USWNT Olympic soccer live stream
The USWNT faces Australia in the Group G finale at the Tokyo 2021 Olympic soccer tournament. Here’s how to watch online.
After an embarrassing 3-0 loss to Sweden in their opening match of the 2021 Olympics, the US Women’s National Team bounced back with a 6-1 victory against New Zealand. Now, they need a win or a tie against Australia in order to guarantee a ticket to the knockout rounds. A loss against the Aussies, or the Matilda’s as they are known Down Under, would leave the Americans in danger of being eliminated. The quarterfinals will consist of the top two teams from each of the three groups as well as the two best third-place finishers.
Despite their disappointing opener, the USWNT remains the most talented squad in Tokyo and should be confident heading into Tuesday’s game. In 30 all-time matches, Australia has beaten the United States only once (26-1-3). That was a 1-0 affair back in June 2018 in Seattle. The three most recent matches between these two teams have been decided by two goals or less.
Australia has a lethal scoring threat in captain Sam Kerr, who has been involved in every goal the Matilda’s have scored thus far in Tokyo. However, Vlatko Andonovski has numerous weapons at his disposal, including Alex Morgan, Megan Rapinoe, Carli Lloyd, Tobin Heath, Christen Press, and Lynn Williams all available at forward. That’s enough to keep goalkeepers awake at night.
Can Kerr’s individual brilliance keep pace with a powerhouse American attack? You’ll have to tune in to find out.
