The 1500m women’s freestyle makes its Olympic debut in Tokyo. We have all the broadcast and live stream info you need to tune into this event.

Historically known as a men’s race in the Olympics, the 1500m freestyle is making its appearance on the women’s front this 2021 Olympic year. To add, it looks like a familiar face is slated to be the first to win it.

Katie Ledecky of the United States set an Olympic record of 15:35:35 in the qualifiers for the race. She’s already stamped her ticket and looks to be a fan favorite for the final.

  • Time: 10:54p.m. (EST)/11:54a.m. (Tokyo)
  • TV Channel: NBC
  • Live Stream: FuboTV, Peacock

Though Ledecky is slated to be the favorite for the 1500m, she still has another event to participate in Tuesday night, being the 200m freestyle. The turnaround time could be detrimental from the aspect of cool down, but because the 1500m is a race of endurance, Ledecky will have to pace herself in order to take home the gold.

The closest swimmer to her in the heat was Jianjiahe Wang, who was six seconds behind Ledecky. Every other swimmer in the 1500m heats was eons behind the American and Chinese swimmers. Although the results seem to favor those two, you still can’t rule out Ledecky’s heavy schedule this Tuesday night.

In the meantime, the full schedule can be found on NBC Olympics.
