2021 Olympics women’s 800m freestyle final: How to watch online
Will Katie Ledecky show up and take the podium once more? We get you up to speed to watch the upcoming women’s 800m freestyle final.
We’re easing into the last leg of the swimming events, and the 800m women’s freestyle final is approaching, taking the stage in just a few days. The Ariarne Titmus/Katie Ledecky story arc continues on with what may be one of the last meetings they’ll have in this Olympic Cycle. Titmus has edged out Ledecky in the 400m free and 200m free, but only by just a hair’s length.
It wouldn’t be impossible to see this 800m free to have similar results, going in either direction for Ledecky or Titmus. But this rivalry is everything that we’ve asked for in this Olympic swimming series.
So when does the showdown for the women’s 800m freestyle take place?

The women’s 800m freestyle final is going to be a close one. Ledecky qualified with the fastest time of 8:15.67, with her teammate, Katie Grimes, just 2 seconds behind her. We should also note that Grimes is all of 15-years-old, so that’s huge to have a time like that at such a young age.
Titmus isn’t far behind though, with a time of 8:18.99. The stage looks like it could be slated for an Australian or an American. But it doesn’t mean it could just be Ledecky, keep an eye out for Grimes, who’s keeping pace with the vets.
