Cubs trade Javy Baez to Mets: Twitter reacts to Cubs fire sale, Mets pairing Baez with Lindor
By John Buhler
The New York Mets have added former Chicago Cubs shortstop Javy Baez at the trade deadline.
The Chicago Cubs are selling off everybody under the sun, as shortstop Javy Baez is heading to the New York Mets.
New York sends centerfielder Pete Crow-Armstrong, their No. 5 prospect entering the season, to the Cubs, who also sent Trevor Williams to the Mets to complete the deal.
Baez was one of the many Cubs players who was playing on an expiring deal. While it was up in the air if Chicago was going to extend him, once the Cubs traded first baseman Anthony Rizzo to the New York Yankees, it was only a matter of time before the rest of their stars were traded. With Craig Kimbrel going to the Chicago White Sox, all that is left is for Kris Bryant to be dealt by them.
Here is how Twitter reacted to the Mets landing the talented shortstop in their deal with the Cubs.

People love the idea of Baez playing next to Francisco Lindor in the Mets infield.
While some people question if Baez will be able to hit for average, he does give the Mets fans something to be very excited about at the trade deadline.
New York is in a three-team race with the Atlanta Braves and the Philadelphia Phillies in the National League East, so adding a star player of Baez’s caliber certainly helps the Mets out a ton.
Overall, the reaction to Baez getting traded by the Cubs to the Mets was met very positively.
