The New York Mets are still sitting on top of the NL East standings, but they could use some new blood to help them stay there. Which prospects could help?

It’s been an odd season for the Mets, who are the class of the NL East so far despite struggling with performance dips and injury woes.

They adjusted to Francisco Lindor’s injury by bringing in Javier Baez at shortstop. However, there are still gaps to fill.

As the season stretches towards the postseason, prospects could hold the answer.

Khalil Lee

Mets fans already saw a bit of Khalil Lee earlier this season. While dealing with a swath of injuries in May, they brought up the outfielder ahead of schedule.

In all honesty, it didn’t go particularly well. He batted .056/.056/.11 with just one hit in his 18 at-bats.

That was then and this is now.

Lee has been excellent with Syracuse in Triple-A ball, hitting .261/.444/.431  with an OPS of .875 in 54 games.

Michael Conforto isn’t having a great season in right field. He has three hits in his last 25 at-bats. Lee could at least make things a bit more interesting.

There’d be no worry about putting him in the outfield. His defense is excellent, with a future as a solid centerfielder.
