The United States’ women’s soccer team will look to leave the Olympic soccer tournament with a bronze medal against Australia.

Tokyo hasn’t gone as planned for the United States women’s soccer team. An opening-round loss to Sweden served as a warning that the Olympic soccer tournament wouldn’t be easy before a brutal 1-0 loss to Canada in the semifinals cost the U.S. a chance at Olympic gold for the first time since 2012.

The semifinal loss to Canada was frustrating for the United States, who fell on a controversial penalty kick by Canada’s Jessie Fleming in the 75th minute. That goal was the only one of the match as the United States fell to its northern neighbors for the first time in 20 years and have now gone goal-less in three of their five matches in this Olympic tournament.

The sting of the loss will stick around for a while for the U.S., which was seeking to become the first reigning Women’s World Cup champion to win a gold medal at the following Olympics. The good news for the United States is that they can still land on the podium by picking up a win in their bronze medal match against Australia.

This matchup comes after Australia fell to Sweden 1-0 in the other semifinal. The contest is also a rematch of a group stage game between the two sides which was played to a scoreless draw back on July 27.

The contest should also be extremely meaningful for longtime U.S. star Megan Rapinoe, who is likely playing in her final Olympic Games. Rapinoe has already had a memorable moment by sealing the U.S.’ quarterfinal win over the Netherlands and can still add to her legacy by helping her team land back on the podium.
