Mookie Betts thinks fans might brawl during Astros-Dodgers series
With the Los Angeles Dodgers ready to host the Houston Astros, star outfielder Mookie Betts thinks there might be some fights breaking out in the stands.
Come Tuesday night, the Los Angeles Dodgers and their fans are all set to welcome the Houston Astros to town. This is the first time the Astros will visit Dodger Stadium since the sign-stealing scandal that rocked the bigs back in 2017.
For Mookie Betts, he knows the L.A. faithful will be ready to troll the heck out of the Astros from the first pitch. So much in fact, Betts even came out and said that he thinks some fights might break out in the stands because of it.
Mookie Betts is mentally prepared for Dodgers and Astros fans to fight at the stadium
“I’m sure there’s going to be some fights and stuff in the stands,” Betts said via Bob Nightengale of USA Today. “It was a such a long time ago. The emotions the fans feel, what the other guys feel, I don’t have any of that. But I assume there’s guys in here that still feel a certain way. I’m ready for war.”
That’s quite the telling quote from Betts, who really didn’t hold back with his comments. Everyone knows Houston is hated across the bigs for cheating their way to the World Series win in ’17. Fans go above and beyond to savage them during road trips.
In this series with the Dodgers, Houston players better be ready for things to be taken to a new level. Both these clubs are in the middle of brilliant years too, as this very well could be a preview of the World Series in the fall. First, the Astros will need to remain focused and not let jeers get to them this week. In the stands, there could be a totally different story, however.
