It’s still early in training camp, but Bengals wide receiver Tyler Boyd says Joe Burrow looks concerned about his injured knee.

It’s very early in training camp, as NFL teams are putting pads on for the first time this week. For Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow, camp will be an opportunity to work the kinks out as he comes back from a torn ACL during his rookie season. He has been clear he wants to play in preseason games, against the team’s plan.

The Bengals’ offensive as apparently not looked great thus far in camp, as Burrow looks uncomfortable and the line has struggled. As expected, head coach Zac Taylor is not conveying too much concern right now.

“I think it’s the whole unit right now. We’re just getting a feel for each other. You know, you’d like to be throwing touchdowns on every play right now, but we’ve got some progress to be made,” Taylor told reporters Wednesday. “But there’s no cause for panic for any reason for that. We’ve still got 39 days before our first game.”

Bengals WR says Joe Burrow seems hesitant on injured knee

Bengals wide receiver Tyler Boyd offered an assessment of how Burrow has looked early in camp.

Still just nine months removed from his torn ACL, with other damage in the knee, Burrow is surely not quite 100 percent healthy. So some hesitation all the way around, especially if the line in front of him hasn’t looked good in practice settings (and even though he can’t be hit or sacked) is expected. Boyd also acknowledged how “we’re not going out there trying to destroy a defense” at this point.

As long as Burrow comes around and he’s healthy in time for Week 1, his current lack of comfort is just part of the process as he comes back from a major injury.
