Georgia football legend David Pollack thinks his Dawgs will beat Clemson in the season opener.

When looking at the Clemson football schedule for 2021, former Georgia football star David Pollack believes the Tigers will drop their season opener to his Dawgs in Charlotte on Labor Day Weekend.

While he was not as blunt as his ESPN colleague Joey Galloway was about Clemson losing, he too does not believe Clemson will hit the over on its win total of 11.5 victories for the season.

Since the rest of Clemson’s schedule should be a breeze, the big game in question is clearly the neutral-site affair vs. Georgia. If the Tigers lose at Bank of America Stadium, the under cashes in big time.

Though he was not as confident about it as Galloway, Pollack sees Georgia edging out Clemson.

David Pollack believes Georgia will hand Clemson its first loss in Week 1

While losing to another top-five team in Georgia would not be shameful for Clemson, it would put a major damper on the Tigers’ season. Simply put, Clemson does not have another game on the schedule right now that would offset a tough neutral-site loss to Georgia. The Tigers really need rivals like Boston College, Florida State and North Carolina State to become quality teams in 2021.

Yes, Clemson can still get to the College Football Playoff for the seventh year in a row if the Tigers win out, which would include an ACC Championship over an excellent Miami or North Carolina team. However, the Tigers do not have a team like Georgia does in Florida where it can begin to build its playoff resume before the conference title bout. Their game will be must-see television.

Overall, the ACC really needs Clemson to beat Georgia to maintain its strong playoff viability.
