2021 Olympics women’s soccer gold medal game: How to watch online
Canada and Sweden lock horns on Thursday for a chance at gold at the 2021 Olympics in women’s soccer. Here’s what you need to know before tuning in.
Canada and Sweden will play Thursday for a shot at an Olympic gold medal when the sides meet at Tokyo’s National Stadium.
Both countries will be playing in their first-ever gold medal in women’s soccer after Canada topped the U.S. in the semifinals, while Sweden defeated Australia.
While both sides are evenly matched, delegations from Canada and Sweden have complained in recent days that the heat expected at game time (temperatures could top 104 degrees) could make for an unbearable contest. Both nations have appealed to FIFA, soccer’s world governing body, and the International Olympic Committee to reschedule the kickoff time.
For now, organizers have not changed the time, scheduled for 11 a.m. Tokyo time, since it could conflict with track and field events held at the same venue.
