Milwaukee Bucks get sneaky great value in two-year George Hill deal

The Milwaukee Bucks made a sneaky-good move by signing George Hill to a two-year deal.

George Hill reunites with his former team by signing a two-year contract worth $8 million to join the Milwaukee Bucks in his free agency.

Hill split the 2020-21 NBA season between the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Philadelphia 76ers. Prior to that, the veteran point guard had spent the two previous seasons in Milwaukee playing for Mike Budenholzer. This will be Hill’s age-35 season out of IUPUI, but his third in Milwaukee uniform. This is a great veteran signing made by the defending NBA champions.

Having another reliable ball-handler who knows Budenholzer’s system is a plus for the Bucks.

While the Bucks have an Olympian running the point in Jrue Holiday, having a savvy veteran backing him up in Hill is massive. Though Jeff Teague knows Budenholzer’s system well from their time together on the Atlanta Hawks, Hill is the better player at this point of their respective careers. Defending their NBA title will be difficult, but Hill’s veteran leadership keeps it interesting.

Conversely, this signing makes one of Milwaukee’s biggest threats in the Eastern Conference worse. Though the 76ers bowed out in the Eastern Conference Semifinals to the on-the-rise Hawks, Philadelphia did have the best record in the conference during the regular season. It may be a one year at a time thing for Hill, but this is a move Bucks fans should readily get behind.

Bringing back Hill on a team-friendly, two-year contract makes a ton of sense for Milwaukee.
