Twitter users reacted to Team USA defeating France to win their fourth consecutive Olympic gold in men’s basketball.
Things appeared to be shaky for the United States men’s basketball team following their exhibition losses to Nigeria and Australia. But once the games matter, Team USA stepped up and did not falter under the pressure. The same can be said during the gold medal game.
On Friday night, Team USA defeated France by the score of 87-82 to win the gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics. The United States has now won the gold medal in mens’ basketball for the fourth consecutive time.
NBA Twitter reacted to the United States’ huge victory shortly after the final buzzer sounded.

Kevin Durant, much like for the entire tournament, showed up and showed out in the gold medal game. On the very same day that he agreed to a four-year, $198 million contract extension with the Brooklyn Nets, Durant led Team USA to the gold once again.
Durant scored 29 points while shooting 9-for-18 from the field and 8-for-9 from the free-throw line. Additionally, Durant grabbed six rebounds, dished out three assists and blocked one shot.
France kept it a close game until the very end, but could not pull closer to Team USA. Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert tallied 16 points (5-for-5 from field, 6-for-13 from free throw line) and grabbed eight rebounds for France, but it was not enough.
Even with the adversity the team faced prior to the Olympics, the United States showed throughout the tournament that they are still the team to beat in the Summer Olympics. Team USA will look to make it five gold medals in a row in 2024 in Paris.
