NFL rumors: Texans reverse course, ignore trade calls on Deshaun Watson

The Houston Texans reportedly have no desire to even listen to trade offers for quarterback Deshaun Watson.

The Houston Texans are prepping for the 2021 season under new head coach David Culley, with quarterback Deshaun Watson’s future up in the air. Despite demanding a trade earlier this offseason, an NFL insider notes that Houston still has no desire to move on from the quarterback.

According to FOX Sports’ Jay Glazer, the Texans are “at a standstill,” due to them still believing that Watson will want to play for them this upcoming season. In fact, Glazer said that they are not even returning trade calls from interested teams.

This comes hours after a report indicated that trade talks between Houston and Philadelphia Eagles regarding Watson were “heating up.”

The Texans may not want to trade Watson, but it is unknown if he will actually be on the field this upcoming season.

The relationship between Watson and the Texans organization is seemingly beyond repair. But we have to put football aside, as Watson has been accused of sexual assault and sexual misconduct and is facing 22 civil lawsuits. Additionally, he could be subject to disciplinary action by the NFL following their investigation.

Even with the legal situation Watson is in, he has reported to Texans training camp this summer to avoid daily fines of $50,000. However, he has sat out in recent days due to a foot injury. Even after reporting to training camp, Watson still wants a trade off the team.
