Kid Galahad vs. Jazz Dickens was a rematch after a long period of time, but Galahad won the second contest as he did the first.

For the Matchroom Fight Camp main event, Kid Galahad and Jazza Dickens met in the boxing ring for the second time in eight years on Saturday, Aug. 7. The result mimicked their first meeting with Galahad’s hand in the air as the victor.

Galahad defeated Dickens in 2013 by round 10 TKO. They were super bantamweights then but came together again as featherweights. Both were looking for their first world title, but Galahad walked away with the IBF belt.

Galahad came close to winning that same title against Josh Warrington in 2019. The IBF ordered Warrington to defend that title against Galahad in 2021, but Warrington vacated the title before losing to Mauricio Lara.

Galahad got a crack at the title against a game Dickens who never gave up, but his face couldn’t stand up to Galahad’s punches.

Galahad and Dickens are both from England, but the Brentwood, Essex crowd belonged to Liverpool’s Dickens. Sheffield’s Galahad dominated the fight.

The trouble for Dickens started in round 2. A clash of heads opened a cut over his left eye, but Galahad’s punches continued to connect high and low round by round.

Galahad’s biggest weapon was his feet. He constantly switched between orthodox and southpaw stances to land punches from all angles. Dickens’ face got heavily marked. At the end of round 11, both of Dickens’ eyes were badly swollen and a massive hematoma developed above his left eye.

Dickens’ corner and the referee seemed to agree that the fight couldn’t go on. It was waved off, and Galahad again had a TKO win over Dickens.

The featherweight titles are all held by different fighters. Ownership of the division is up for grabs, and Galahad will try to initiate a takeover.
