The Mets may need a new general manager after all

The Mets named Zack Scott acting general manager after Jared Porter was fired for sexual harassment. Scott made some significant moves at the trade deadline, including adding shortstop Javy Baez after Lindor went down with an injury.

There are few big-name general managers available at the moment, with Dave Dombrowski heading to Philly before the start of the regular season. But it’s tough to blame the product on the field after just one year together, and Scott is an easy target for an owner trying to influence change from the top-down. He was never the top, optimal choice for the job in the first place.
