Five-star Ohio State quarterback signee Quinn Ewers announced his first NIL deal with Texas-based drinks company Holy Kombucha.
Quinn Ewers is putting his No. 1 recruiting status and mullet to good use with his first endorsement deal.
The five-star quarterback announced his partnership with Holy Kombucha and the Hope Squad n Twitter.
“I may be leaving Texas soon to take it to the next level, but I made sure to take the best Texas drink company with me,” Ewers tweeted.
Holy Kombucha is a Texas-based drinks company, while Hope Squad is a peer-to-peer suicide prevention program.
Quinn Ewers is already drawing in endorsement deals
Ewers is the No. 1 prospect in the class of 2021 after reclassifying from the class of 2022. The 6-foot-3 quarterback is considered a can’t-miss talent who could be a top NFL draft pick down the line.
First, he has to navigate the college waters at Ohio State.
Ewers was originally committed to Texas, but he decommited from the Longhorns in October and turned his sights on the Buckeyes.
His decision to reclassify was apparently two-fold: First, he’ll be able to turn up at Ohio State in the middle of a quarterback battle to replace Justin Fields. Second, he can now profit off his name, image and likeness under new NCAA rules.
Pete Thamel of Yahoo! Sports reported in late July that Ewers could receive cash and equity in Holy Kombucha if he reclassified and took their endorsement deal. His total earnings could project as large as $1 million from an array of endorsements before he ever takes a snap at the college level.
His first NIL deal has arrived. Now it’s time to prove he’s worthy of all the hype.
