With Clay Matthews still looking for a new home, Aaron Rodgers and others are hoping for a Green Bay Packers reunion.

Is it time to get the band back together? With the Green Bay Packers landing Randall Cobb this offseason, it looks like he may not be the only familiar face to potentially make his way back to Lambeau Field.

What about linebacker Clay Matthews? The tackle machine is still looking for a new home, but Aaron Rodgers and others have made it more than clear they’d love to see him back in the locker room.

Multiple Green Bay players are calling for the team to sign Clay Matthews

At 35 years old, Matthews’ best day are most definitely behind him. However, Rodgers clearly thinks he could still make an impact on the defense. With that said, Matthews likely isn’t much of a priority for general manager Brian Gutekunst.

It anything, this would be a feel-good story if Matthews did return to Green Bay, but the Packers aren’t in need of an aging ‘backer right now. Hey, Gutekunst may try and keep Rodgers happy by inking Matthews, who remains beloved all over town.

For the Packers, they’ve got what it takes to not only win the NFC North this year, but potentially go on a Super Bowl run. That was the case last year too, but Rodgers ran into Tom Brady and Tampa Bay in the NFC Championship Game. No one has forgotten about that monster upset.

With the Packers hoping to win another Lombardi Trophy, signing Matthews isn’t going to make or break things. At the end of the day, this could just turn out to be Rodgers making a push and nothing happening. It’d be a pretty big shock of Matthews does end up getting signed by the Packers before Week 1.
