Blake Griffin throws a bucket of cold water on the Los Angeles Lakers superteam hype.

Brooklyn Nets forward Blake Griffin is not buying into this Los Angeles Lakers superteam.

So far this offseason, the Lakers have added stars like Carmelo Anthony and Dwight Howard in free agency, as well as trading for Russell Westbrook in a blockbuster deal with the Washington Wizards. They may not even be done, as Portland Trail Blazers point guard Damian Lillard could be on the move as well. However, Griffin knows first-hand to never buy into the hype of a superteam.

While he is basically calling the kettle black, here is what Griffin said about the Lakers on Thursday.

Blake Griffin warns us to not buy into the Los Angeles Lakers superteam hype

Well into his hall-of-fame career, Griffin has been a part of many NBA superteams that never won anything of significance. In 11 seasons with LA Clippers, the Detroit Pistons and now the Nets, Griffin has never even been to a conference finals. While Detroit was not operating on the same level as the Clippers or the Nets, it is not like Griffin has spent a ton of time playing on bad teams.

Griffin has re-upped with Brooklyn to be their “fourth star” behind Kevin Durant, James Harden and Kyrie Irving this season. The Nets are not only the favorite to come out of the Eastern Conference this year, but they are projected to beat the Lakers in the 2022 NBA Finals. For that to happen, Griffin must see his team win three more postseason series than he has been used to.

They will only play twice next season, but we cannot wait to see Brooklyn take on the Lakers.
