Jordan Love’s Packers debut was even better than we could have imagined

Green Bay Packers fans got their first look at quarterback Jordan Love on Saturday night, and he did not disappoint.
Over a year ago, the Green Bay Packers traded up into the first-round of the 2020 NFL Draft to select Utah State quarterback Jordan Love. The signal caller did not have the preseason last year to get in some snaps due to the coronavirus pandemic. But one year later, Love officially made his Packers debut at Lambeau Field.
Love shined in Green Bay’s preseason game against the Houston Texans on Saturday night, as evidenced by his touchdown pass to running back Kylin Hill to help give the Packers a 7-3 lead in the second quarter.

Yes, the touchdown did come on a screen pass to Hill, but Love showed off his skillset earlier in the game.
On that touchdown drive, Love was facing a third-and-nine situation. Upon hiking the ball, Love stood tall in the pocket and unleashed a beautiful pass up the middle of the field to tight end Jace Sternberger for a 34-yard gain.

Love’s night ended after completing 12-of-17 pass attempts for 122 yards and the touchdown pass to Hill.
Last year, the Packers used their draft capital to select Love to be Aaron Rodgers’ eventual successor. It was met with much scrutiny at the time, and only grew when watching Rodgers’ solid 2020 campaign that earned him his third NFL MVP award. But all signs are pointing to Rodgers leaving Green Bay at the end of the upcoming season after the team agreed to restructure his contract.
Love gave Packers fans a glimpse into the future and they had to like what they saw in his first game donning the green and yellow.
