The issue with the safety position for the Vikings is similar to their issue at cornerback; lack of depth.

Harrison Smith is still fantastic, and the Vikings brought over Xavier Woods as well, but they don’t have much behind them.

In an NFL that features nickel and dime defenses more prominently, you can never have enough good defensive backs. Boston would be an instant plug in for those packages, while also being a reliable starter if either Smith or Woods were to go down with injury.
