Manny Pacquiao vs. Yordenis Ugás fight card, start time, channel guide
Manny Pacquiao vs. Yordenis Ugás isn’t the original fight that was signed, but with Errol Spence Jr. injured, Ugás is a solid replacement for Aug. 21.
Manny Pacquiao was supposed to challenge Errol Spence Jr. for his IBF and WBC welterweight titles, but a torn retina forced Spence out of their Aug. 21 FOX pay-per-view event. Instead, WBA champion Yordenis Ugás is taking Spence’s place, and a title fight still punctuates a major boxing card.
Pacquiao (62-7-2, 39 KOs) is a legend and a guaranteed Hall-of-Famer when he retires one day. He’s 42 years old but still one of the best boxers in the world. Pacquiao is an eight-division world champion and was the WBA champion, but two years of inactivity made the WBA decide to elevate Ugás as their champion as they stripped Pacquiao of that honor.
Pacquiao vs. Ugás lacks the mass appeal of Pacquiao vs. Spence, but it is still an intriguing matchup that will test if Pacquiao still has it after all these years. Pacquiao says that titles aren’t his motivation, but his desire to be the best is what drives him. Here’s how you can catch the fight on Saturday, Aug. 21.
