Josh Rosen is getting trolled for being cut from yet another NFL team.
Stop us if you’ve heard this one (three times) before: Josh Rosen is in search of a new NFL team.
For the fourth time in his four-year career, the former UCLA star quarterback has been dumped, this time by the San Francisco 49ers, who waived him on Tuesday. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the move was made so the Niners could claim cornerback Davontae Harris off waivers from the Baltimore Ravens.
That means Rosen will be searching for his fifth team in four years in the pros.
The #49ers are waiving QB Josh Rosen, source says. Rosen mentioned recently he wasn’t getting enough reps in practice. A chance to latch on elsewhere for the rest of camp now.

NFL Twitter trolled Josh Rosen for getting cut once again
As one would expect, Twitter couldn’t help but react to the news that the 10th overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft would now be looking to join his fifth team since being drafted.
Some users fixated on just how bad his professional career has been thus far, and the numbers are admittedly ugly:
There are 42 QBs that have over 500 passing attempts since 2018.
— Jeff Kerr (@JeffKerrCBS) August 17, 2021
Here's where Josh Rosen ranks among them:
Completion percentage -- 54.78% (42nd)
TD passes -- 12 (42nd)
Passer rating -- 63.5 (42nd)
Yards per attempt -- 5.67 (42nd)
Win-loss percentage -- .188 (42nd)#49ers

On a per-play basis, Josh Rosen is the least efficient passer* in @nflfastR history (min. 500 dropbacks).

Others couldn’t help but lament how surprisingly bad he’s been, considering all the evaluations of him in high school and college were overwhelmingly positive:
i had my reservations about Josh Rosen coming out, but in no way did did I see him basically failing to catch on any team ever https://t.co/amKrZ9Pr6g

Seth is not alone. Talked with a top talent evaluator recently who said the best 3 high school/young college QBs he's ever seen were:

-Andrew Luck
-Trevor Lawrence
-Josh Rosen
Said it shaking his head still befuddled how this happened to Rosen. https://t.co/UV0RJDRz5n
It was impossible not to recall his first interview on draft night after he went to the Arizona Cardinals with the No. 10 pick, at which point he said he’d prove that the nine players drafted ahead of him were “mistakes.”

The jokes were easy to make at that point as well, since people have 20/20 vision when it comes to draft evaluations and first-round busts like Rosen:

Some were defensive of the 24-year-old quarterback, who has had a hard time latching on with any team when every new squad he joins winds up drafting a top-5 quarterback.
No Josh Rosen slander will be tolerated. He tried his best

Wherever Josh Rosen lands, figure that team will draft a QB in the top 5. It’s only happened to him three times already.

In any case, Rosen is now in need of a new home. After being drafted by the Cardinals back in 2018, he started in 13 of his 14 games with Arizona before the team drafted Kyler Murray first overall in 2019. The Cards dumped Rosen on the Miami Dolphins in the process, and he was unable to surpass Ryan Fitzpatrick or Tua Tagovailoa — another top-5 quarterback draft pick — on the depth chart.
Rosen played six games in one season with the Dolphins, starting in only three, before he was waived. He joined the Tampa Bay Buccaneers practice squad the following season before being signed by the Niners in the wake of injuries to Jimmy Garoppolo and Nick Mullens. He did not see any action but was signed to a one-year extension before ultimately being waived Tuesday in the wake of some disappointing preseason showings and Trey Lance’s arrival.
