Packers and Giants swap cornerbacks in bizarre training camp trade
In a move to try and help out the secondary, the Green Bay Packers have traded for 25-year-old cornerback Isaac Yiadom.
While most of the focus around NFL circles today is the Jamal Adams contract extension, the Green Bay Packers and New York Giants have quietly gone ahead and pulled off a trade of cornerbacks as well.
According to NFL insider Matt Lombardo, the Packers have acquired 25-year-old defensive back Isaac Yiadom from the Giants and sent cornerback Josh Jackson to the NFC East in return.
Isaac Yiadom is headed to the Green Bay Packers from the New York Giants
A former third-round pick of the Denver Broncos, Yiadom spent two years with Denver before he was traded to the Giants prior to last season. In 2020, the cornerback appeared in all 16 games for New York, starting 10 contests. He finished the campaign with 46 tackles and five pass deflections.
Meanwhile for Jackson, he was a former second-round pick of Green Bay, but he never really managed to live up to his billing. Fans had grown increasingly frustrated with his inconsistent play.
In his three years with the Packers, Jackson appeared in 42 games, but only made 15 starts. Last year, he finished with 26 tackles and two pass deflections. Both players will hope a fresh start leads to some success on the gridiron. We’ll see what the two corners will be able to get done.
