MLB Twitter was in seventh heaven when Freddie Freeman hit for the cycle.

It’s been a busy day in baseball, but Atlanta Braves’ Freddie Freeman might have just stolen the spotlight, at least where MLB Twitter is concerned.

The Braves first baseman hit for the cycle against the Marlins, blasting a 405-foot home run to cap it off. It was the second of his career.

The home run in question just beat the centerfield wall and the outstretched glove of Marlins centerfielder Bryan De La Cruz.

Things were set up for Freeman when he doubled in the first inning. He got the hardest part done in the top of the fourth with a triple to lead off the inning. Once those two were in, getting the single and the home run were comparatively easy asks.

The single came in the top of the fifth. By the time he came to the plate in the top of the six, the cycle was there for the taking. Marlins pitcher Luis Madero made the mistake of giving him a pitch to hit.

Freeman was 4-for-4 with three runs and two RBI by the seventh inning. His home run put his team up 7-2.

His cycle was the third of this year, following cycles from Trea Turner for the Nationals against the Rays and Jake Cronenworth for the Padres against the Nationals. He is now one cycle away from matching Turner and just four other players in baseball history with three in a career. If he does it this year, he’ll join the five players who have hit the cycle twice in one season.
