Jack Morris made an offensive comment during the Tigers-Angels game on Tuesday night and he’s since been suspended for it.

While Detroit Tigers TV analyst Jack Morris is well respected, he simply had to know better than this. On Tuesday night in the middle of the showdown between Detroit and the Los Angeles Angels, Morris made an offensive comment toward Shohei Ohtani.

In case you missed it, Morris basically was saying that you need to be careful pitching to Ohtani, but he did so trying to use a mock Asian accent. While Morris realized his mistake and apologized, he’s since been suspended by Bally Sports Detroit for the embarrassing move.

Bally Sports Detroit had no choice but to suspend Jack Morris for his Ohtani comments

“The Detroit Tigers take immense pride in honoring the diverse culture that make up our players, coaching staff, front office, fan base and community,” the club said in a statement. “We are deeply disappointed by the comments made by Jack Morris during the broadcast last night. We fully support Bally Sports Detroit’s decision and their on-going commitment to ensure that all personnel are held to the highest standards of personal conduct.”

Morris has been under fire from the moment he made his comment and rightfully so. What in the world was he thinking? He simply had to realize that this was a major mistake. He tried “apologizing” to those who were offended. In essence, it really came off as a non-apology.

Moving forward, Morris is going to have to learn from this mistake and make sure not to repeat it again. If he does, he could be out of a job in a flash. We’ll see if Morris learns from this or not, but it’s really a terrible look for him and the Tigers as a whole.
