3 Cowboys veterans who could be cut this preseason
As we enter Week 2 of the preseason, the Dallas Cowboys have some decisions to make when trimming their roster, and some notable veterans could become casualties.
The Dallas Cowboys will have their third preseason game of the 2021 NFL preseason Saturday when they host the Houston Texans. Through two games thus far, they have looked lackluster on both sides of the ball. The offense didn’t score a touchdown in the Hall of Fame Game against the Pittsburgh Steelers and they just look rough on defense as well.
With just two preseason games remaining, these three Cowboys veterans could find themselves looking for a new team once September rolls around.
3. LB Jaylon Smith
If he isn’t cut, he’ll be traded. Jaylon Smith has looked flat out bad in the preseason. After a breakout 2018 season, he has yet to regain that shine and has looked downright abysmal at times.
The linebacking corps as a whole has suffered because of Smith’s lackluster play. They signed Keanu Neal as competition for Smith, and Neal looks like he should be the guy who gets the starting job. On top of drafting Micah Parsons and Jabril Cox, the Cowboys have geared up for life without Smith. Don’t be surprised if he is playing elsewhere when the regular season rolls around.
