As the second preseason game looms, these three veterans are headed toward the cutting block for the Minnesota Vikings.
Even as preseason openers go, with the appropriate context of key players not playing, the Minnesota Vikings looked bad in losing 33-6 to the Denver Broncos last Saturday. If nothing else, the loss exposed a lack of quality depth on the roster.
The Vikings’ second preseason game is coming against the Indianapolis Colts Saturday night. While some key guys will certainly see action, it’s still an opportunity for people to cement spots on the 53-man roster. Or at least, avoid the next cut-down day and survive to the third preseason game.
The timing is to be determined, but these three Vikings’ veterans could be cut before the preseason is over.

3. OG Dakota Dozier
Dozier was literally the worst guard in the NFL last year, as graded by Pro Football Focus. But the Vikings brought him back anyway, if only as experienced depth. The game against the Broncos was not good for him.
At least it's only a preseason game, right? 😅#Vikings pic.twitter.com/RbRDRaNBLa

Dakota Dozier (17 snaps):
- 20.9 overall grade
- 24.9 pass blocking grade
- 46.3 run blocking grade
Wyatt Davis (49 snaps):
- 78.9 overall grade
- 59.7 pass blocking grade
- 77.6 run blocking grade pic.twitter.com/TUqJdTD3r0
Right guard is still a problem for the Vikings, as rookie Wyatt Davis hasn’t taken the reigns yet and if Week 1 was Sunday Oli Udoh would probably get the start. Still, Dozier should get some action in the second preseason game and then be cut in short order.
