Jameis Winston might’ve ended Saints QB competition with 1 throw (Video)

New Orleans Saints quarterback Jameis Winston made a perfect deep touchdown pass against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Monday night.
The New Orleans Saints enter the 2021 season for the first time without Drew Brees starting under center. This preseason, head coach Sean Payton will have to choose between former first-overall pick Jameis Winston and jack-of-all-trades player Taysom Hill to get the Week 1 start. Safe to say, Winston might have given himself the edge on Monday night.
Winston made the most of New Orlean’s opening drive, as he dropped far back in the pocket and uncorked a beautiful pass in the end zone to wide receiver Marquez Callaway. Even though the wideout had two Jaguars defenders on him, Callaway still ended up with the catch for the touchdown.

This offseason, the Saints opted to bring back Winston on a one-year deal worth $5.5 million contract after spending last year behind Brees on the depth chart. Even when Brees was sidelined due to injury last season, Payton chose to start Hill over Winston.
The former Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback appeared in just four regular-season games, where he completed 7-of-11 pass attempts for 75 yards. He did make an appearance in the NFC Divisional Round against the Buccaneers, where he completed a 56-yard touchdown pass to Tre’Quan Smith.
With this throw against Jacksonville, Winston may have pulled himself ahead in the quarterback competition.
