Astros should sign Jose Iglesias to short-term deal

Iglesias hasn’t been an All-Star talent since 2015 in Detroit, so he’ll by no means replace Correa, but he’s a really solid defender in the hole and is hitting .261 through 112 games so far this season in Los Angeles.

The Angels aren’t playoff bound, but Iglesias has still been a very impactful contributor in the Angels lineup, adding eight home runs and 41 RBIs to boot. He’s an ideal short-term gap option for Houston if they have another long-term replacement for Correa in mind, but don’t want to rush him to the big leagues.

Astros could trade for Miguel Rojas

Miguel Rojas is scheduled to be a free agent after this season, but the Marlins have a club option and it’s likely they activate that to make sure they don’t lose him for nothing. If Miami is smart, they’ll shop him at the Winter Meetings to see what kind of prospect haul they can get for him before he enters the final years of his contract.

The Marlins didn’t make Rojas available at the trade deadline, so there’s no guarantee they’ll move him this offseason.

Rojas is hitting .272 with six home runs and 32 RBIs on the season.
