Especially since Kirby Smart took over in Athens, Georgia has never been hurting for defensive talent. However, the Bulldogs have a tall task when it comes to their secondary for the 2021 season as they must replace Tyson Campbell, Eric Stokes and Mark Webb, a trio that served as the team’s top three cornerbacks a year ago.

Lucking into Clemson transfer Derion Kendrick will certainly help with the team’s predicament but he’s also just one player. There are players who have been waiting in the wings for their opportunities but Nyland Green could join the Dawgs as a freshman and immediately make a big-time impact as, at minimum, a rotational player.

While he was a consensus 4-star prospect, some recruiting analysts had Green as a 5-star when he signed with UGA. That’s because the 6-foot-1, 185-pounder seems ready to get on the field right away. He has tremendous instincts for the football as a former wide receiver but also shows nice technique and agility for a young player.

The only thing holding Green back right now is that he needs to simply get stronger physically but that should happen in a college strength program. With the tools that he brings to the table, he should see the field early with a real opportunity to be the starter opposite Kendrick at some point this season.
