5. Kingsley Suamataia, OT, Oregon

Asserting that Kingsley Suamataia will be an instant star at Oregon speaks to how impressive of a prospect the high 4-star recruit is. After all, the Ducks are bringing back all five starters from their offensive line a year ago (Penei Sewell opted out) and would likely be more than fine running that group out again.

However, it’s going to be hard for either of the tackles from last season to hold off Suamataia from taking their job. Coming to Eugene at 6-foot-5, 280 pounds, the Orem, UT product may seem undersized but he doesn’t play like it. In fact, there are some pretty striking similarities to the aforementioned Sewell in how the freshman plays.

Despite his size, Suamataia is strong and able to assert his will at the point of attack. He shines the brightest, however, when he’s asked to move into space, either pulling out or getting to the second level. He’s quite agile and quick for a player at his size and that’s only made more dangerous by the fact that he’s blessed with long, well-built limbs to help him latch on as a blocker.

Again, Suamataia is going to have to impress Mario Cristobal and the Oregon coaching staff if he’s going to usurp one of the experienced starters. However, for a team with high hopes for their 2021 campaign, the Ducks should be looking to get their best players on the field and no tackle on the roster has the pure talent that the freshman possesses.
