Following his MRI on Wednesday, Jacob deGrom was spotted throwing the ball at Citi Field for the first time since July.

What’s this, potentially some more hope for New York Mets fans? Earlier in the week, stud shortstop Francisco Lindor made his return to the lineup after missing extensive time. Is a Jacob deGrom comeback in the works now too?

The ace hurler underwent an MRI on Wednesday morning to take a look at his elbow injury. The results just came in, with things looking clean. Obviously, this is amazing news for manager Luis Rojas.

Jacob deGrom could potentially return this season after all

With deGrom being out of action basically all summer, it was recently reported that the Mets could end up shutting him down for the rest of the year. With that said, deGrom is eligible to come off the Injured List on Sept. 13 and per Jon Heyman, they’ll be ramping his work up.

The Mets are in the middle of a nightmare streak, as they’re 2-8 in their last 10 games and 6.5 games back of Atlanta in the NL East standings. They’re also seven games out of a Wild Card spot.

Getting Lindor back was one thing, but if deGrom can power through his elbow injury and give the club some quality starts in September, it could make the difference in helping New York get to the postseason.

All eyes will be on deGrom in the coming weeks. His return, if it indeed happens, couldn’t come at a better time.
