Seattle Seahawks safety Quandre Diggs wants a new contract. Now that he’s sat out two days of practice, people are wondering if he’s holding out.

Is Quandre Diggs holding out? That’s the question on the minds of Seattle beat writers who saw Diggs miss a second day of practice on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, head coach Pete Carroll said Diggs sat out because “he needed a day” of rest.

When the safety also sat out Wednesday’s Seahawks practice, people got to talking.

“Pete Carroll described Quandre Diggs not practicing yesterday as the veteran safety getting a day off. Well, Diggs is here but not taking part for the second straight day,” Brady Henderson of ESPN tweeted. “He’s in the last year of his contract, made the Pro Bowl last season and wants a new deal from Seattle.”

Quandre Diggs might be holding out for a new Seahawks contract

Henderson went on to add Carroll wasn’t scheduled to speak on Wednesday and he won’t be available to clear up any confusion regarding Diggs until Friday.

Jamal Adams just got a new deal from Seattle as the highest-paid safety in the game. If you want to read the Twitter tea leaves, the idea that Diggs also wants to get paid has legs.

On Monday, he tweeted, “Don’t waste my time.”

Shortly after Carroll described him taking a day off on Wednesday, Diggs tweeted, “That’s funny.”

Those vague tweets could be referring to anything. But they’re out there.

Offensive lineman Duane Brown is holding out of practice while waiting for his own new contract, so Seattle has had some contract issues to juggle this preseason. If Diggs’ sitting out practice isn’t a hold out, we’ll find out soon enough.
